Personal TV Schedule 2010-11 Bowl Edition

College Football Bowl Season

2010
December 18
5:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Fresno State Bulldogs

To me this match-up is head-and-shoulders above the other two games scheduled for the day.  The top team in the MAC versus one of the best year-in-year mid-major programs in the country.  This should be good.

December 22
8 p.m.-11 p.m.

Utah Utes vs. Boise State Broncos

This could have been an annual match-up in the MWC, instead the Pac-10 came calling and Utah answered so they could have a better chance at an AQ bid.  The Broncos were a FQ away from a BCS game if not the National Championship Game, but that's why you play.  This is game is easily one of the top three in the bowl season.

December 23
8 p.m.-11 p.m.
Navy Midshipmen vs. San Diego State Aztecs

I can't describe how interested I am in this game.  A surprising team in the MWC in the Aztecs in basically a home game against the Midshipmen that started off the year not their usual selves only to right the ship, pardon the pun, and continue an impressive decade of year-in and year-out success for a service academy.

December 28
6:30 p.m.-10 p.m.
West Virginia Mountaineers vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack

The Mountaineers almost won Big East, the Wolfpack were a win against Maryland away from facing the Hokies for the ACC Championship.  The Mountaineers haven't found themselves offensively since Rich Rod's departure and barely finished above expectations while the Wolfpack surprised everyone, especially early in the season.  This game is just intriguing to me and that's why I want to see it.

December 30
6:40 p.m.-10:15 p.m.
North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Tennessee Volunteers

My Vols finished 4-0 in November to reach 6-6 and bowl eligiblity while the Tar Heels were on and off all year because of suspensions throughout the year because of the agent scandal that hit them in August.  These two were to start a home-and-home series next year, but the Vols wanted to postpone it only for the Tar Heels to refuse them thus the series was cancelled.  Now they won't be facing one another two in their next three games, they were scheduled for their 2nd game of the 2011 season, so for the first time since the 1960s UNC faces UT, should be good.

December 31
7:30-11 p.m.
South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Florida State Seminoles

Both teams did better than expected, both lost their conference championship games, and both are looking for a way to springboard into next season.  Some just seems to say this should be a very good game.

2011
January 1
1 p.m.-4 p.m.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Michigan State Spartans

I'll be honest, I'm watching this game more for Michigan State than Alabama

4:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. TCU Horned Frogs

This if the first BCS game and it could be one of the best, plus its the ROSE BOWL!

January 3
8:30 p.m.-12 midnight
Stanford Cardinal vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

The Cardinal were the 2nd-best team in the Pac-10 all year and for a half had the Ducks on the ropes, the Hokies after a hard fought battle against Boise State and a major letdown against James Madison have won 11 straight games.  This Orange Bowl looks like it'll be one to remember.

January 4
8:30 p.m.-11 p.m.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

I can't miss the Buckeyes playing and especially against the Razorbacks and their pass happy offense.

January 7
8 p.m.-11:30 p.m.
LSU Tigers vs. Texas A&M Aggies

This game just smells like its going to be something to remember.

January 10
8:30 p.m.-12 midnight
Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks

It's the National Championship Game and it might never end, though to be honest the rust factor will be the "X" element in this game and whomever gets over it first will most likely win.

There is my personal viewing schedule for the 2010-11 bowl season.  See you in the first week of the 2011 season.

Personal TV Schedule 12-04-10

College Football Week 14

"This is the end...the end...my friend"

Another regular season is closing for college football, what a ride it was.  And now the Big East, Big 12, C-USA, and SEC championships are going to be decided on Saturday.*  So what will I be personally watching? Well let's look...

1 p.m.-4 p.m.
TSSAA 2A State Championship Game: Signal Mountain vs. Trinity Christian *primary*
C-USA Championship Game: SMU Mustangs at Central Florida Golden Knights *secondary*
Rutgers Scarlett Knights at West Virginia Mountaineers *commerical glancing*

"A state championship game?!" you ask.  Yes, Signal Mountain's varisty program started two years ago and their undefeated and in the state championship game.  They're the third and last Chattanooga area team in the 8, yes eight, state championship games this year and so far the area is 1-1 with a heart breaking last minute lose and a impressive blowout victory.  Signal Mountain will move up to 4A next year and will have tougher competition, but for this year let the good times roll.

4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
SEC Championship Game: Auburn Tigers vs. South Carolina Gamecocks *primary*
Oregon Ducks at Oregon State Beavers *secondary*

The BCS #1 and #2 are playing at the same time with three teams looking for one or both to lose.  Since my favorite team plays in the SEC, I naturally gravitate Auburn-South Carolina but I'll also be interested in the Ducks-Beavers.  This Pac-10 match-up is an intense rivalry game and the Beavers are looking to return the favor to the Ducks for knocking them out of the Rose Bowl the last two seasons.  I believe the top two teams will win, but South Carolina and Oregon State might turn everything on its head.

8 p.m.- 11 p.m.
ACC Championship Game: Florida State Seminoles vs. Virginia Tech Hokies *primary*
Connecticut Huskies at South Florida Bulls *secondary*

The FSU-VT match-up seems to be the most even of all the major conference championship games and I think it could go down to the last possession, if not overtime.  During commercials or if the ACC becomes a blow out, I'll turn to what could be the deciding game for the Big East championship as the Huskies travel down to Tampa to face the Bulls and the home team looks for the upset.  And I WON'T be watching Oklahoma-Nebraska because OU doesn't have an issue at QB like the Cornhuskers and the Big 12 will ensure that Nebraska doesn't win...again.

That's all for this week, come back next week to see my personal viewing bowl schedule or leave a comment about what you're going to watch this week in college football.

Personal TV Schedule 11-27-10

College Football Week 13

No introduction really because my viewing schedule is basically one game and then I might watch others if I feel like it.

12:21 p.m.-4 p.m.
Kentucky Wildcats at Tennessee Volunteers *primary*
Michigan Wolverines at Ohio State Buckeyes *commerical breaks*

If the Vols beat the Wildcats for the 26th consecutive time then they'll be bowl-eligible with a 6-6 record, its as simple as that.  This game might be at home for the Vols, but after last week's tighter than I would have liked game against Vanderbilt I'm weary.  During commercial breaks I'll be checking out the Buckeyes beatdown of the Wolverines.

4 p.m.-7 p.m.
LSU Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks *maybe*
North Carolina State Wolfpack at Maryland Terrapins *maybe*
TCU Horned Frogs at New Mexico Lobos *maybe*

After the UK-TN game I really don't have anything I want to watch, so I might pick one of these games to listen to in the background or something.

7 p.m.-11 p.m.
No Games

Everyone in the country is getting the game I wanted to see Oklahoma-Oklahoma State, but for some reason Eastern Tennessee is getting the Notre Dame-USC game...what the f%ck ABC?!

That's all for this week, come back next week to see my personal viewing schedule or leave a comment about what you're going to watch this week in college football.

Personal TV Schedule 11-20-10

College Football Week 12

No introduction, I have only two games I'm going to watch this week and here they are:

3 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Mocs at Woffold Terriers

Both teams are going to finish with winning records no matter what, however the winner of this game is essentially guaranteed a spot in the D-IAA playoffs.  For the Mocs it would be their first playoff appearance, and second overall, since 1984 when I was 3 and had no idea what was going beyond the walls of my home.  And it would be ironic that the Mocs finally make the playoffs the first year after the NCAA screwed Chattanooga over by taking away the D-IAA Championship Game.

7:30 p.m.-11 p.m.
Tennessee Volunteers at Vanderbilt Commodores

The Vols are coming off back-to-back 50+ point games, though against inferior defenses in Memphis and Mississippi, and are facing the 2-8 Commodores who aren't better than either of those teams.  However, this is basically the game that Vanderbilt gets up for every year and the Volunteers shouldn't be resting on their laurels.  I believe the Vols will win, but nothing is certain this season for Coach Dooley's first Volunteer team.

That's all for this week, come back next week to see my personal viewing schedule or leave a comment about what you're going to watch this week in college football.
